Greater Crystal Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Announces New President and CEO
Crystal Lake, IL November 28th, 2023 – The Greater Crystal Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the appointment of Catherine Peterson as its new President and CEO.
Catherine has been in the public sector for 30 years, the last fifteen years spent serving as the Village Manager of Lakewood and brings an extensive economic development and policy background. Catherine also served as the Dean of Aurora University Woodstock Center for nearly seven years, where she established a partnership with McHenry County College to create a university center.
“We are excited to welcome Catherine as the new Chamber President and CEO,” said Board Chair Mike Wheeland. “We are confident that her background and skill set will help us develop and execute a strategic plan that will pave the way towards growth and prosperity of both the Crystal Lake Chamber and the Crystal Lake community.”
Wheeland and the board also appreciate Interim President and CEO Ben Volling’s service. “We want to thank Ben for his leadership during these past six months; not only did he oversee the daily operations, but he executed a rigorous and ultimately successful recruitment process. We appreciate his efforts.”
Catherine officially began her duties as President and CEO on November 27th. “I am honored to have been selected to lead the Greater Crystal Lake Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry at this phase in its history. I look forward to meeting with our diverse business community and stakeholders to promote economic growth and strengthen the quality of life for all residents.”
