Join us for Community Clean Up Day 2014 - Saturday, April 19th!
The Crystal Lake Chamber and the Park District organize this free event every April, in conjunction with Earth Day. This is a free, family-friendly event. Come join us!
The morning begins with coffee, hot chocolate, and breakfast treats. Then, volunteers are given garbage bags, gloves and a location assignment, and venture out into community streets, neighborhoods, and parks, to clean up the trash left behind from winter. After the collection efforts, participants are invited to return to the Chamber for a hot lunch of freshly grilled hotdogs, chips, pop, and more!
We welcome individuals and groups of all kinds – scout troops, church groups, and families, and more. Businesses are encouraged to gather groups of employees and participate, in a show of community spirit.
There is no minimum age for participation; all are welcome, when accompanied by a parent or guardian. This is a “rain or shine” event; please dress for the weather.
Last spring, over 250 volunteers met at the Chamber for Community Clean Up Day 2013. Many volunteers submitted photos and shared their comments:
Denise Hammer of AMS Store & Shred shared a couple of her pictures and remarked, “We were so busy cleaning up, we didn’t take too many pictures. It was our first year and it was great – just wish we could have done more! I hope to pull a team together next year for this event.”
The Jessoe Family submitted a few photos taken after clean up along Huntley road from Bard to Barlina and said, “We moved to Crystal Lake 4 years ago from Henderson, NV and have volunteered for this event every year. Such a wonderful event, we’ve really enjoyed helping out and think it’s a really wonderful thing that you guys do this each year. See you next year.”
